Elad Marish founded Swell Music + Sound in 2009, after years spent playing in Bay Area bands, engineering under other people's direction, and slowly realizing he liked shaping a track more than fronting one. The name came to him on a surf trip in Mexico - a triple entendre he couldn't shake.

His pitch for why Swell exists, in his own words: "Most post houses have engineers but no musical brain. Most music houses don't do post. We crush both."

Since 2009, Elad and the Swell team have scored, mixed, and built sonic identities for Nike, the Golden State Warriors, United Healthcare, Meta, Atlassian, and CrunchLabs - working alongside agencies including Turner Duckworth, Leo Burnett, Cutwater, and Mekanism. Elad still takes the marquee mix jobs personally and runs supervision and final mix on most of what comes through the door. He's a former National President of the Association of Music Producers (AMP), and in 2026 co-founded Topshelf Music, Swell's curated music licensing platform, with Michael Frick.
